Conversations with toddlers and young children are seriously hilarious.
Even when my kiddos are misbehaving, there are times their actions are just too funny…and Mommy has a really hard time keeping a straight face.
I know you can sympathize 🙂
Just the other day, I was sitting at the kitchen table, grading some student essays on my computer. My daughters were busily coloring in their coloring books in the living room, when my four year old approached me with a letter flashcard.
She asked, “Mommy, what letter is this?” I know that she can successfully identify ALL of the letters, so I respond with, “you know that letter, Sweetie, tell Mommy what it is.”
While keeping an extremely serious expression, my daughter sternly responded with, “Mommy, when you tell me what the letter is, you may get me a cup full of Cheez-Its. That is the rule.”
I was trying desperately not to explode into fits of laughter, while she continued to emphasize the procedures I should follow. “Tell me what the letter is, please, so you can get Cheez-Its for me. Mommy, that is the rule and you have to do it.”
I’m learning a lot of new rules I never knew about…
For example, did you know that it is a rule that your socks cannot match if you are putting them on before bed?
I’ve also learned that, “when a kid says something, both of the parent adults have to do it.”
Ahh the joys of parenthood 🙂
